The defense of the United States is multi-faceted and involves protecting our domestic borders as well as our overseas interests. As a firefighter for the past 14 years, the idea of domestic security is familiar. However, our sense of well being as a country and as a people involves more than police and fire protection. Port and freight security, border surveillance, cyber security are all essential components. Protecting our overseas interest involves security for our overseas military bases and aiding our friends with their domestic defense.

Our defense is a necessary expenditure within the Federal budget, but is in competition for limited federal dollars.  In order to maximize the use of these tax dollars we must utilize the latest technology to wisely invest these dollars. Defense programs should be regularly reviewed, to insure that we continue funding essential programs and eliminate unnecessary or unsuccessful programs.
