Statement on President Obama's Afghan speech (12/2/2009)

John DeJoie will work to remove our troops from Afghanistan.

For 8 years, US troops have performed their mission well, with honor and duty. But we are asking our troops to risk their lives, to carry on with a mission whose goal and endpoint are unclear. There is a role for the United States in Afghanistan, but it is diplomatic, not military.

We must remove our troops from Afghanistan now.

The US will work to improve civil rights, agricultural productivity, improve literacy, healthcare and decrease infant mortality rates. (More Information CIA World Factbook.)
